In his diary, Popov writes in 1926: "As time goes by, I think more and more frequently of a theatrical (symphonic) musical structure that I have not yet found. I am looking for a plot, I am looking for a form". What the composer found was to be a miniature symphony in four movements (Sitsky).
It is a journey through a very varied, exciting landscape.
I - Moderato cantabile
II - Scherzo, allegro - moderato cantabile
III - Largo
IV - Finale, allegro energico
