The score, awarded at the Henri-le-Boeuf competition in Brussels 1936, was sent to us by Holzmann in 1991. Unfortunately the composer didn't hear our performance (1/2 May, 1992) since he died a month before...
The Ebony Band has played the piece several times with great pleasure. It is written in a moderate modern idiom and has a beautiful, attractive middle section. The horn-cadenza is partly ad libitum: the player is encouraged to improvise on certain motives
