The Koncert pro Nonet Op.19 was written in 1933 for the already famous Czech Nonet, but Reiner revised the score later on several times.
The piece consists of four basic movements (fast-slow-fast-slow), that run into one another.
The style of writing of the only 23 year old composer, shows a clear search for a new musical language.
Probably because of the radical, comporomiseless style, this technically and musically challenging work has only seldom been played.
