Most of Burians music is strongly influenced by dada, futurism and jazz.
But in his songcycle O dětech (About children), written in 1924 for mezzosoprano and piano, the influence of the Czech tradition and his masters is quite clear.
The instrumentation of the pianopart was done by Burian himself.
